Tess McCarthy
Tess joined Carson Kaye in June 2024 as a Senior Crime Paralegal and Accredited Police Station Representative.
Her role includes assisting fee earners in the progression of their cases, which currently consist of a range of high-gravity charges for sexual offences, offences under the Terrorism Act 2000, and murder. She also attends Police Stations, Magistrates’ Courts, and Crown Courts to provide advice and assistance to clients.
Before joining Carson Kaye, Tess gained solid grounding in criminal defence as a paralegal and caseworker. Her experience has been varied with some of the first cases of her career involving a series of firearms and violent protest prosecutions; conspiracies to defraud; and products of the deployment of Operation Venetic. In 2021, she worked with multiple clients in the wake of R -v- Brecani and subsequent caselaw, which changed the landscape for those with defences rooted in modern slavery.
Tess received a full scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar in March 2023. She hopes to practise at the criminal Bar.
